GENERAL OVERVIEW
As part of the initiatives organized by SOILS4MED on the 5th of December 2023 to celebrate the World Soil Day (WSD), a meeting with high-level stakeholders was organized in Lebanon.
The meeting was held on the premises of the Lebanese project partner, the Lebanese Agricultural Research Institute (LARI), in Tal Amara.
The event started with the opening remarks of Dr. Michel Afram, PDG of LARI. The project Coordinator Claudio Zucca (University of Sassari, Italy) and the project partner, Ihab Jomaa (LARI), gave an “Overview of the project” and of the activities specifically planned by SOILS4MED in Lebanon. These contributions were followed by the words of the Lebanese soil scientist Talal Darwish who introduced the following discussion about the future perspectives regarding the establishment of soil monitoring systems and of an institutional Soil Information System in Lebanon. The latter are two major project objectives that will involve intense collaboration and co-creation with stakeholders by means of a Living Lab approach.
