WORK IN PROGRESS
SMSL is structured as an interdisciplinary working group, formally constituted as a departmental research unit within the University of Sassari’s existing framework for interdisciplinary laboratories. It was established by a group of founding faculty members from the Department of Agricultural Sciences and operates according to an open, collaborative model.
Scientific Promoter and Director Prof. Claudio Zucca
Working Group The Unit is composed of faculty members and researchers from multiple research groups within the Department of Agricultural Sciences, each contributing expertise across the physical, chemical, biological, and territorial dimensions of soil science.
Operational model Participation in SMSL activities is open to all faculty of the Department and does not require formal affiliation. Collaboration with external researchers, institutions, and networks can be formalized through membership, affiliation agreements, or research partnerships.
The Unit operates as a virtual structure designed for intellectual collaboration. It draws on the equipment, instrumentation, and expertise of its members — in particular the Pedology Laboratory, the Cartographic and GIS Laboratory (Sala Pietracaprina), and other facilities made available by members on a case-by-case basis.
